Lazy, Rainy Days

We have had some rain the last few days so we have been cooped up. Even though the rain was still bad we went to our neighborhood Mexican restaurant on Friday night. The rain finally cleared up yesterday and Zoe and I took a trip to Target. Today we had a relaxing day and went to dinner at Ephesus Mediterranean Grill. Here are some pics from our rainy days at home!

Not sure what this face is but she sure enjoys looking at herself in the camera.

My Gym + A Check-Up

Last night I did not blog because Zoe bumped her head pretty good right before her bedtime. Of course, they always hit their heads before they are supposed to go to sleep. So we kept her up an extra 30 minutes and checked on her throughout the night. The swelling was completely gone by this morning.
Yesterday morning I was not feeling great. I felt like I was coming down with a cold so I downed two packets of Emergen-C. I also have a huge bruise on my leg that was hurting when I walked. So Zoe and I stayed at home until it was time for her My Gym class. We stopped by HEB after our class for a few random things, Halloween candy, and a pre-roasted chicken for dinner.
Today Zoe had a check-up bright and early. She also got one shot and I got my flu shot (yay!). We are going back next week to get her flu shot because they were out of it for her age group- must be popular this year. We got to meet her new doctor and she was very impressed that Zoe was speaking to her in sentences. I am proud that she can say 'we go' (we are going) and 'what doing' (what are you doing). So we stayed home after the doctor. Usually after Zoe gets a shot she is a bit more clingy and subdued. She only took one midday nap so I wasn't able to do much around the house. We ordered pizza for dinner and Nick and I got to catch up on our DVR a little.
Oh, and I am tracking SIX (yes, six!) packages from Target. Two arrived in Houston this afternoon but aren't scheduled to be delivered til Friday but hopefully they will bump them up to tomorrow. And hopefully my UPS man doesn't think I'm a shopaholic!
Even though I couldn't capture a smile I promise she had a great time.
Poor baby's bump.

Our Long Weekend

Bright and early Friday morning Zoe and I went to a playdate at Jumpstreet. It's a new trampoline park inside Katy Mills Mall and Zoe loved it! I stopped by Starbucks for a salted caramel mocha frappuccino and a breakfast sandwich (which I had to hide in my diaper bag because they didn't allow outside food). It was very nice and not crowded. There was even a special area for the younger kids so that's where Zoe played. She jumped a little but she mostly ran around playing with the bouncy balls. Another thing I liked was the employee that was in the area the entire time. He made sure the kids were playing safely and would hand Zoe a ball whenever she didn't have one. Later that evening we had dinner with the in-laws at Longhorn Steakhouse. The food was great as was our server but they probably need to hire more staff. We waited over an hour just to be seated. Luckily Bruce and Tiffany ran around outside with Zoe.
On Saturday morning I went to the pool while Nick watched Zoe. I spent the rest of the day conserving my energy for the big Phillip Lim for Target release. Nick went out to watch the fight and after I put Zoe to bed I started stalking the Target website, Facebook page, and eventually Twitter. Target decided to stagger the release of the items. They started with women's clothing, then men's, and finally around 2 am central the handbags. They even staggered the handbags by releasing them by color. I had only planned to get a large black satchel and a large purple satchel but I also ended up getting a large taupe satchel, a mini taupe satchel, and a surprise for my mom. Oh, and the 'Boom' sweatshirt and floral shirtdress. Oops! I also had to order most of the items separately so I wouldn't lose them sitting in my cart. So I have five boxes coming. Again, oops. The good news is they have all been shipped already and should be here by Friday! I was on such a shopping high I stayed up until 3:45 or so.
Sunday was also spent lounging due to my five hours of sleep. I felt pretty good until late afternoon and then I was struggling to keep my eyes open. I made dinner and did some other things around the house and that helped me stay awake. Since I was still awake I watched Breaking Bad which, of course, scared me so I stayed up til almost eleven! This morning I was still dragging so Zoe and I stayed home all morning. After her morning nap and lunch we went to Target. I had a few groceries to get but I mostly needed toiletries, cleaning items, and household stuff in general so that was the best choice. I was also curious to see if there was any Phillip Lim stuff left. Pretty much all of the clothing was there! I was shocked because people have been dying to get the 'Boom' sweatshirt. I picked up a leopard print dress. I also found a lone handbag hidden away but it wasn't really my style. I have a feeling more were hidden (and I'm sure some will be returned in a week or so). So even though I didn't do much this weekend I am exhausted. But it was all worth it!

This is how I felt Sunday afternoon after the lack of sleep caught up with me.
I brought Zoe's carseat in to fix the cover and she put her doll in the seat.

Our Week

We haven't done a lot this week but I am finally starting to feel better! My nausea is completely gone and I have the other symptoms under control thanks to Midol and Pamprin (so lovely being a woman). I even have my energy back despite Zoe's new wakeup time of 7:45. She has been consistently taking two naps a day though so I won't complain. If I need to I take an afternoon nap when she does.
On Monday Zoe and I stayed home so our week actually started on Tuesday. ;) I took Zoe to her My Gym class on Tuesday. She loved it, as usual. She has become more confident in climbing and exploring. On Wednesday we went to the grocery store. That night I made lasagna for the first time. I asked my mom for the recipe but she told me she just goes by the recipe on the box. I found ready to bake noodles and went with the recipe on the box. It turned out a little dry though. Next time I will also add in a can of tomato paste or crushed tomatoes and more cheese. I will also probably change the layering order. This recipe was layered sauce, noodles, cheese and that didn't seem right. I will try noodles, sauce, cheese next time. It was VERY easy to make. It's definitly one of those things that intimidated me but now that I've made it it's so easy and I will never buy the frozen version again. On Thursday Zoe and I stayed home. I did a ton of laundry that actually still needs to be hung, folded and put away. I also went to dinner for ladies night out with some of the moms from my playgroup. Bruce came over to watch Zoe because Nick was at a happy hour. So that has been our short week so far! I will try to put up a new blog post tonight of today's events.

Our Weekend with Grandma

Since Nick was out of town for a wedding my mom came into town to keep Zoe and I company! I have not been blogging recently because, long story short, I'm having horrible withdrawal symptoms from getting off the mini-pill because of the side effects from it. I know, really?! Who knew the withdrawal symptoms would be worse than the actual pill side effects? Ladies- get off your hormone bc if you have ANY unwanted side effects. Luckily (or sometimes not) my symptoms come in waves and are lessening by the day.
Anyways, my mom arrived Thursday night. On Friday we took a little trip to Michael's and Target. My mom got Zoe some Halloween clothes, some crafty stuff for me, and makeup at Target. After we all had an afternoon nap we went to our local Mexican food restaurant. On Saturday I went to lay out by the pool while my mom watched Zoe. My mom also watched Zoe while I got a mani/pedi that afternoon. It was kind of rainy that afternoon so we just ordered salads and pizza from Pepperoni's. I love ordering pizza from them because they are local, fast, and the employees are the nicest. Plus I always order a salad with my pizza. They even have appetizers, calzones, pasta, and dessert! On Sunday my mom went to get her mani/pedi while Zoe took her morning nap and I got ready. We then went to have lunch at Zoë's Kitchen. We decided we needed more stuff from Target so that's where we headed next. After my mom put Zoe down for her afternoon nap she drove back to San Antonio. I also got a good afternoon nap and Zoe and I had our weekend leftovers for dinner.
We had a lot of fun hanging out around the house. I was really grateful for my mom's company and she was a big help while I wasn't feeling well.
Patiently waiting for Grandma to arrive.
After I arranged her books on the shelf she proceeded to take them off one by one and going over each page like she was reading. :)

"Ok I'll take these off now."
Happy girl rooting for her team. She's also happy because she has cash and a credit card in her hand.
