That's A Pig

"That's a pig" is what Zoe said to me this morning while reading through one of her books! It's crazy to me that she is comprehending what she sees and then expressing it in full sentences to me.

After our whirlwind weekend we had another busy few days. Yesterday we went to the last Monday's with Mommy of the year. They have been having it at a new location and it is so much better because there is more space for the kids to run around. Afterwards we set off to do some shopping. We stopped by a new candy store called Rocket Fizz. Not only did they have unique candy they also had specialty sodas, vintage posters, and little gifts. We picked up a chick-o-stick, whistle candy, a mini Toblerone, a lollipop, and a few stocking stuffer's for Nick. We also stopped by Loft where I picked up a much needed basic striped shirt and a cardigan on sale. Zoe was ready for her morning nap so we headed home. We stayed home the rest of the day because we had to wait for the GE repairman to fix our microwave. We are happy to have our convenient microwave back!

Today Zoe and I had a lazy morning. I was planning to go grocery shopping but the fog was so scary we stayed in. We went to My Gym in the afternoon (they had the train today!) and I dropped Zoe off at home for her afternoon nap. Nick took a day off so he was able to watch her while I went to the grocery store. Even though I stocked up on some good stuff I decided to make Stouffer's enchiladas and rice. It was pretty good but a little spicy. I got the party size and we finished all but one!

Dewberry Farm

Last week we took a little road trip out to Brookshire to visit Dewberry Farm. We met our playgroup there bright and early Wednesday morning, after a trip to Starbucks naturally.

We had a great time exploring the farm. We visited a barn with some animals, the playground, and the gift shop on our way out. Zoe had a great time running around but we had to cut our trip short for her morning nap. I was mostly busy pulling a wagon with Zoe and one of her friends so I did not get the best pictures but here are a few from our trip!

Our Trip to San Antonio

We arrived in San Antonio early Thursday afternoon. My mom had Bill Miller's waiting for me and a bunch of organic food for Zoe. I had a hair appointment so I left Zoe with my mom to take a much needed nap. That evening we stayed in and relaxed. On Friday I could NOT get Zoe to nap at all so we went to Nordstrom that afternoon. We did a bit of shopping, my mom spotted Jaclyn (from my birthday last year) and asked her to take a picture with Zoe then me. She was very sweet and talked to us for a while. After shopping we went to have lunch at P.F. Chang's. Zoe was a little trooper and she fell asleep for about 10 minutes in the car. Of course, she wouldn't nap when we got home either so she went to bed really early on Friday. Saturday we stayed in all day (with the exception of a Starbucks run). It was rainy and I didn't want to take Zoe out in it. She skipped her first nap but, thankfully, took her second one. We also had a visit from Carrie and Nick! We talked for a long time and Zoe eventually woke up and entertained them. Since it was still rainy we had Taipei delivered. Yes, Taipei delivers now! If I still lived in S.A. I would have food delivered to me all the time. On Sunday we decided to visit my Grandma. Since Zoe had been skipping her morning naps we woke up, fed her, got ready, then drove to my Grandma's house. Zoe took a nice nap in the car and woke up just as we pulled into my Grandma's gate. Zoe had fun stomping around on the wood floors and playing with my Grandma's stuffed animals and one doll that belonged to my Aunt Diane. We then drove into La Vernia to try out a new restaurant. It was very good- they had awesome fresh green beans and rolls. After we got back from lunch we got to see the lambs and when we got out of the car Zoe was laughing at them. That evening my mom made meatloaf, green beans, mashed potatoes and a pound cake. We had dinner with Charlie, Jordan, and Jordan's friend Megan. We had a great time visiting with them! I recorded Breaking Bad on my mom's dvr so I got to watch it without commercials after Zoe went to bed. I thought the ending was a predictable and it left me wanting to know more. On Monday morning we got all packed up and Zoe took a nap in the car on the way home. We picked up lunch for ourselves and Nick (since he stayed home from work). After Zoe had lunch and played a bit she took a long nap. I took the opportunity to nap too and Nick even let me sleep a little longer than Zoe and watched her. I didn't really have to cook since my mom sent us home with tons of leftovers. So we had a low key weekend in San Antonio!

Lazy, Rainy Days

We have had some rain the last few days so we have been cooped up. Even though the rain was still bad we went to our neighborhood Mexican restaurant on Friday night. The rain finally cleared up yesterday and Zoe and I took a trip to Target. Today we had a relaxing day and went to dinner at Ephesus Mediterranean Grill. Here are some pics from our rainy days at home!

Our Long Weekend

Bright and early Friday morning Zoe and I went to a playdate at Jumpstreet. It's a new trampoline park inside Katy Mills Mall and Zoe loved it! I stopped by Starbucks for a salted caramel mocha frappuccino and a breakfast sandwich (which I had to hide in my diaper bag because they didn't allow outside food). It was very nice and not crowded. There was even a special area for the younger kids so that's where Zoe played. She jumped a little but she mostly ran around playing with the bouncy balls. Another thing I liked was the employee that was in the area the entire time. He made sure the kids were playing safely and would hand Zoe a ball whenever she didn't have one. Later that evening we had dinner with the in-laws at Longhorn Steakhouse. The food was great as was our server but they probably need to hire more staff. We waited over an hour just to be seated. Luckily Bruce and Tiffany ran around outside with Zoe.

On Saturday morning I went to the pool while Nick watched Zoe. I spent the rest of the day conserving my energy for the big Phillip Lim for Target release. Nick went out to watch the fight and after I put Zoe to bed I started stalking the Target website, Facebook page, and eventually Twitter. Target decided to stagger the release of the items. They started with women's clothing, then men's, and finally around 2 am central the handbags. They even staggered the handbags by releasing them by color. I had only planned to get a large black satchel and a large purple satchel but I also ended up getting a large taupe satchel, a mini taupe satchel, and a surprise for my mom. Oh, and the 'Boom' sweatshirt and floral shirtdress. Oops! I also had to order most of the items separately so I wouldn't lose them sitting in my cart. So I have five boxes coming. Again, oops. The good news is they have all been shipped already and should be here by Friday! I was on such a shopping high I stayed up until 3:45 or so.

Sunday was also spent lounging due to my five hours of sleep. I felt pretty good until late afternoon and then I was struggling to keep my eyes open. I made dinner and did some other things around the house and that helped me stay awake. Since I was still awake I watched Breaking Bad which, of course, scared me so I stayed up til almost eleven! This morning I was still dragging so Zoe and I stayed home all morning. After her morning nap and lunch we went to Target. I had a few groceries to get but I mostly needed toiletries, cleaning items, and household stuff in general so that was the best choice. I was also curious to see if there was any Phillip Lim stuff left. Pretty much all of the clothing was there! I was shocked because people have been dying to get the 'Boom' sweatshirt. I picked up a leopard print dress. I also found a lone handbag hidden away but it wasn't really my style. I have a feeling more were hidden (and I'm sure some will be returned in a week or so). So even though I didn't do much this weekend I am exhausted. But it was all worth it!
