June 2014 Favorites

1. Back to Nature Peanut Butter Crème Cookies- I picked up these cookies at Kroger because they were on sale (and Nick ate my organic ones). So I figured these would be a good substitute. These are even better! They aren't organic but they don't have any preservatives or HFCS. And I basically love anything peanut butter.
2. Where is Warehouse Mouse?- This is one of those little show/commercials on Disney Jr. (which is Zoe's new favorite channel). At some point she really started watching this. She gets so excited that she squeals with delight when it comes on. She narrates everything the mouse is doing which is pretty hilarious. I added every episode I could find onto her YouTube playlist and we watch them when she's in a bad mood.
3. Buc-cee- Nick and I picked this up for Zoe when we were out of town for a wedding. I had previously gotten her a tiny keychain and I knew she would love a bigger toy. As soon as we gave it to her she exclaimed, "Buc-cee!" She continued to carry it around all evening telling us she loved her Buc-cee. He goes almost everywhere with us (as does the keychain aka baby Buc-cee) and he is one of the select few stuffed animals she allows in her crib.
4. Bodycology XOXO lotion and body spray- I picked this up randomly at Kroger. I am pretty sure I was alone so I had some free time to go up and down the beauty aisles. I was surprised how nice this smelled considering it was a drugstore brand. But I figured it would be good for summertime when I'm constantly moisturizing and the spray is nice because it's much lighter than perfume. It does the job, smells great, and is an even better price!
5. At a Glance Calendar- Now I know I have a calendar on my phone, iPad, and one hanging in the kitchen but I felt like I needed a monthly planner so I could see everything at once. This planner is very basic, no bells or whistles, but I love it! It's a bit oversized but it's very thin so I can even put it in my bag. I love the oversized squares for the days because I can always fit everything in. There are even a few extra pages in the back for future dates, addresses, etc.
6. Old Navy Boyfriend Cuffed Denim Short & Linen Blend Short- After going through my summer wardrobe I realized I was in need of more, longer shorts. Just last year I ventured into women's clothing because I needed something long enough to cover my bum while chasing Zoe around. So I only had a few pair of "adult" shorts. I got the boyfriend shorts in the color above and white. I like that they are comfortable and casual. I got the linen shorts in black and chambray. I love those because they are ultra lightweight. Both styles are long enough to cover everything but not too long to be considered matronly.
7. Poke-A-Dot Ten Little Monkeys- I was shopping at Learning Express and the salesgirl showed me this book. She said it was new to the store and it was good for learning to count (which Zoe is). The little holes have a plastic button type thing that you press and it makes a click sound. So the idea is to count every time you click a button. Zoe was already very familiar with the Ten Little Monkeys story and she got the hang of popping the buttons right away. I can't wait to get her different stories. I highly recommend this if your child is learning how to count!
8. Target Gel Pens- I had to get these when I got my new planner. This package has every color and every finish. There are pastels, glitters, and plain gel pens. They bleed a tiny bit but you can't beat the price. They make scheduling the most boring appointments a but better.

Lazy, Rainy Days

We have had some rain the last few days so we have been cooped up. Even though the rain was still bad we went to our neighborhood Mexican restaurant on Friday night. The rain finally cleared up yesterday and Zoe and I took a trip to Target. Today we had a relaxing day and went to dinner at Ephesus Mediterranean Grill. Here are some pics from our rainy days at home!

Not sure what this face is but she sure enjoys looking at herself in the camera.

Our Long Weekend

Bright and early Friday morning Zoe and I went to a playdate at Jumpstreet. It's a new trampoline park inside Katy Mills Mall and Zoe loved it! I stopped by Starbucks for a salted caramel mocha frappuccino and a breakfast sandwich (which I had to hide in my diaper bag because they didn't allow outside food). It was very nice and not crowded. There was even a special area for the younger kids so that's where Zoe played. She jumped a little but she mostly ran around playing with the bouncy balls. Another thing I liked was the employee that was in the area the entire time. He made sure the kids were playing safely and would hand Zoe a ball whenever she didn't have one. Later that evening we had dinner with the in-laws at Longhorn Steakhouse. The food was great as was our server but they probably need to hire more staff. We waited over an hour just to be seated. Luckily Bruce and Tiffany ran around outside with Zoe.
On Saturday morning I went to the pool while Nick watched Zoe. I spent the rest of the day conserving my energy for the big Phillip Lim for Target release. Nick went out to watch the fight and after I put Zoe to bed I started stalking the Target website, Facebook page, and eventually Twitter. Target decided to stagger the release of the items. They started with women's clothing, then men's, and finally around 2 am central the handbags. They even staggered the handbags by releasing them by color. I had only planned to get a large black satchel and a large purple satchel but I also ended up getting a large taupe satchel, a mini taupe satchel, and a surprise for my mom. Oh, and the 'Boom' sweatshirt and floral shirtdress. Oops! I also had to order most of the items separately so I wouldn't lose them sitting in my cart. So I have five boxes coming. Again, oops. The good news is they have all been shipped already and should be here by Friday! I was on such a shopping high I stayed up until 3:45 or so.
Sunday was also spent lounging due to my five hours of sleep. I felt pretty good until late afternoon and then I was struggling to keep my eyes open. I made dinner and did some other things around the house and that helped me stay awake. Since I was still awake I watched Breaking Bad which, of course, scared me so I stayed up til almost eleven! This morning I was still dragging so Zoe and I stayed home all morning. After her morning nap and lunch we went to Target. I had a few groceries to get but I mostly needed toiletries, cleaning items, and household stuff in general so that was the best choice. I was also curious to see if there was any Phillip Lim stuff left. Pretty much all of the clothing was there! I was shocked because people have been dying to get the 'Boom' sweatshirt. I picked up a leopard print dress. I also found a lone handbag hidden away but it wasn't really my style. I have a feeling more were hidden (and I'm sure some will be returned in a week or so). So even though I didn't do much this weekend I am exhausted. But it was all worth it!

This is how I felt Sunday afternoon after the lack of sleep caught up with me.
I brought Zoe's carseat in to fix the cover and she put her doll in the seat.

Our Weekend

This weekend my mom came to visit us. She arrived Friday evening and Nick picked up dinner from Olive Garden for all of us. Zoe loved her cheese ravioli and she even had some of my mom's chicken scampi.
The next day my mom went to pick up breakfast tacos from a fairly new restaurant in Fulshear. Their tacos were ok- not nearly as good as the ones available on practically every corner in San Antonio. After Zoe's morning nap we went to have lunch at one of our favorite places- Black Walnut Cafe. Even though we went around 2 pm it was very crowded. But our service was great and prompt. We also took a quick trip to Target. I had to return something and my mom bought some shirts and I got a shirt and a dress. It rained after Zoe's afternoon nap so we decided to stay in for dinner. We ordered Chinese food from our favorite place- Yumi Cafe. I'm glad to say they finally know our address and how to get to our house! My mom decided to give Zoe a bath in the sink while I relaxed and Nick went out with his telescope.
On Sunday morning I picked up breakfast from Starbucks. We all just hung around the house playing with Zoe. For lunch we tackled all of our leftovers! We had a lot to choose from and we finished everything. My mom decided to leave when Zoe went down for her afternoon nap. I also took a nap during that time. After our naps we got ready to go to dinner with Nick's parents and sisters. We ate at one of their favorite places- Saltgrass. After dinner we all went back to Bruce and Deanna's. They recorded Bubble Guppies for her so she got a kick out of watching that while Bruce, Tiffany, Madison, and Nick did something with coins. Not sure what they were doing but it seemed like they were dividing them up and trading them with each other.
Zoe had a great time seeing her grandmas and grandpa this weekend! And that Bubble Guppies toy was another great investment. She has literally been playing with it all weekend.

Happy girl dancing in her crib.
It was nearly impossible to get a good picture of both my mom and Zoe so I took a few.

Excited about crayons at Saltgrass!

Pretty in Prints

Today Zoe and I took a little trip to Target. I stopped inside Starbucks first because I had a coupon. After that we set off to get the random items on our list. I found all of the items I needed but I also picked up some other things. Mostly, clothes and sippy cups on sale for Zoe. Target already has all of their summer stuff on sale or clearance so I snapped it all up. It is only mid July so we have quite a bit of summer left here in Texas.
We got home and I cleaned a bit while Zoe played. We then waited for my mom to get here. Nick picked up dinner from Olive Garden and Zoe loved it. She was all hyped up because my mom was here and played hard until I put her down for bed. She played with her new Bubble Guppies toy all day long. She just played the music over and over again and carried the little characters everywhere. She even took two to bed with her.
Placing all of her Bubble Guppies onto the entertainment center.
Zoe's new Wonder Woman sippy cup.
I love this outfit from New York & Company. Sometimes I feel like it is hard to find things that I love there but I love most of their recent stuff. And what's even better is that it is all modest and appropriate to be out and about with Zoe. By the way, is the model for the shirt below Danielle from America's Next Top Model cycle 6? It's hard to tell since her mouth is closed and I can't see if she has that signature gap in her front teeth. Fierce!

Back in Black... and White

We are back after spending the weekend in San Antonio. Today was spent getting Zoe back on schedule and running errands. Zoe woke up super early for her- 7:30! But that meant she took her morning nap earlier than usual. We went to Target to return some things and get a few random things. I planned on going to Sprout's but I could see Zoe rubbing her eyes in the backseat so we just went home. Sure enough, she went down for her second nap as soon as we got home. It was an extra long nap so I got a little one in too. I still wasn't in the mood to make dinner so we all had my mom's King Ranch Chicken and it was delicious.

The weather was very pleasant today at only the mid 90's. This dress is perfect for looking polishd while running errands. I love the bold stripes. There is a slit in front but I am not modeling it very well. Also, I wore these shoes for the first time this weekend and they are just as comfortable as the tan pair. I love them because they have just a little bit of sparkle.
