Tuesday with Zoe

Today Zoe woke up at her regular time (yay!) so she was back on schedule today. We ate breakfast together then I worked on blog posts I should have put up yesterday. After we had lunch (the last of my mom's King Ranch Chicken) we headed to Sprout's for our groceries this week. I intended to go yesterday after Target but Zoe was already getting sleepy in the car and we just went home. I also really wanted to get organic gummy vitamins and organic hot dogs for Thursday. The last time I went to Sprout's it was pretty busy so I didn't get to check everything out. This time it was practically dead. I was able to find organic sandwich bread, hot dog buns, cheese, green beans, popcorn kernels, ground turkey, hot dogs, and the gummy vitamins! Those things listed above are the hardest things to find at conventional grocery stores and I usually end up going to more than one to get it all. I also found the Newman's Own Organics cinnamon mints that I mentioned in my June 2013 Favorites post.

When Nick came home we all had dinner and hung out. Zoe's new favorite thing is climbing onto the couch next to me and then playing with the blinds. She usually grabs on me or my clothes but tonight she was doing it all on her own. She played hard all night, climbing and talking until she sat with Nick and watched an episode of Bubble Guppies. All in all we had a great day!

Back in Black... and White

We are back after spending the weekend in San Antonio. Today was spent getting Zoe back on schedule and running errands. Zoe woke up super early for her- 7:30! But that meant she took her morning nap earlier than usual. We went to Target to return some things and get a few random things. I planned on going to Sprout's but I could see Zoe rubbing her eyes in the backseat so we just went home. Sure enough, she went down for her second nap as soon as we got home. It was an extra long nap so I got a little one in too. I still wasn't in the mood to make dinner so we all had my mom's King Ranch Chicken and it was delicious.

The weather was very pleasant today at only the mid 90's. This dress is perfect for looking polishd while running errands. I love the bold stripes. There is a slit in front but I am not modeling it very well. Also, I wore these shoes for the first time this weekend and they are just as comfortable as the tan pair. I love them because they have just a little bit of sparkle.

Busy Thursday

Today Zoe and I were busy! We started our day early by going to story time at the library. Of course, I was running late and it was packed. But we got to sit right next to Miss Judy so Zoe enjoyed that. She spent most of her time walking around picking up random toys. She lightly bumped into a little boy at one point. They gave each other a funny look that made me and the other dad laugh. While Zoe took her morning nap I tackled a ton of laundry. I washed three loads of clothes today and I don't even know how many things I folded or hung up.

We didn't have any leftovers from last night so I decided we should have lunch at Zoë's Kitchen. I also had a coupon so we got a little discount. I was really surprised to see that it wasn't busy at all and there were plenty of tables to choose from. After lunch we stopped by Target to get a few things for this weekend. I ended up getting more than I needed though. Isn't that always how it goes at Target? Our cashier even commented that we are there all the time. I went to her line because she is one of the ladies who is always nice to Zoe.

I  took a break from laundry when we got back home and played with Zoe. But I was back at it while she took her afternoon nap. I was still putting things away by the time Nick got home. I finally finished after Zoe went to bed!

So I'm not actually wearing any sandals here. It was the end of the day and I just didn't feel like putting them on for a picture. I have worn them many times before so everyone knows what they look like.

Lazy Wednesday

Zoe and I had a relaxing day at home. She slept in til... 9:20! I was up an hour before her and I checked on her once before she woke up. That is how long she slept. She did go to bed later than usual last night so I guess she was catching up on her sleep. So that pushed our entire schedule back.

Does my hair look darker? I dyed it while Zoe took her morning nap and I'm really happy with the results.

Stripes on Monday

After a nice, relaxing weekend Zoe and I were ready to get back to business today. Of course, we went to the grocery store. Sometimes I feel like I am there far too often but then I remember I cook every, single meal at home and it doesn't seem so bad. I must have gone at the wrong time because the checkout lanes were very crowded.

Since I took a break last night and ordered pizza I made salmon for dinner tonight. I also made fried green beans because, well I love those things. Also, I am typing my very first blog post from my new keyboard! Nick gave me my anniversary present early and he told me to use it! I felt bad because I didn't think we were giving each other presents this year but he told me his gift to himself was the Robert Plant concert. But I do have a card and special blog post for him. :)

Zoe kept putting the tiles from her alphabet mat on her head. She kept peeking through the number eight!

This dress is a fab find from Old Navy. I feel like their dresses are really a hit or miss. I have had this dress for quite some time but I just decided to wear it today. Great choice for running errands because it is light and not to short to chase after Zoe.

Even though I still have a lingering cough I feel better each day- minus the cough and sneeze attacks. Zoe's morning nap was a normal time so I just had enough time to shower and all that. We got to eat lunch together. I called her pediatrician to reschedule her checkup and they had an open appointment an hour after I called. We had some errands to run first so everything worked out perfectly. Of course, baby girl is doing great. She got two shots and screamed at first but perked up when I picked out a Thomas the Train sticker for her. We stayed home the rest of the day because I never know how she will react to her shots even though it has always been good.

While Zoe was taking her afternoon nap and Nick was off getting a haircut I started dinner. I made my tried and true spaghetti and meatballs. Although I have yet to venture into making my own sauce from scratch (I will get there someday!) I make a great meatball. I use a really basic recipe but the possibilities are endless based on your preferences. Here's what I put in my meatballs:

1 lb. organic grass fed beef

1 organic cage free egg

2-3 slices bread (usually Mrs. Baird's)

About 1/4 cup finely chopped organic onion (any color will do)

Salt, pepper, garlic powder to taste

Um yeah that's it- pretty simple! I bake mine in the oven at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes. The grass fed beef cooks much faster than corn fed beef.

After dinner Zoe pushed her corn popper around and played with Pixie. We let her stay up a little late to cheer on the Spurs. They are still ahead with one quarter left. Go Spurs Go! (BTW I purposely didn't wear a Spurs shirt today because the last time I wore one they lost. I do have a silver and black Spurs inspired manicure though.)

I would apologize for my hair if I didn't take these pictures at the end of the day. But I won't because it has been a long (but good) day. Pixie also wanted to be in the picture with me.
