Saturday in the Park

Ok so we didn't go to the park but we did go to TCBY after dinner. Zoe had a great time zooming up and down the sidewalk, smelling the flowers, and eating yogurt, of course!

I had birthday cake yogurt with Fruity Pebbles, Reese's Pieces, Butterfinger, Heath Bar, and sour gummy worms- sugar overload!

OOTD: Saturday

Today Zoe woke me up at 7:15. Of course, she went back to sleep but I could not. She still woke up earlier than normal though so our schedule today has been a little off. We had breakfast and while Zoe took her morning nap I got ready for the day. Then we both had lunch together and headed off to Starbucks to meet some friends. We caught up with old friends and even met some new ones! I stayed as long as Zoe would let me. As soon as we got home she zoomed off and went to play with Pixie. My husband worked half the day and came home to do yard work so he had a busy day! I did chores around the house while Zoe took her second nap. 

I also attempted (I say attempt because the consistency didn't turn out right) to make a Hamburger Helper meal from scratch. Yes, I love Hamburger Helper. It's my dirty little secret. I haven't made it in a while but I really wanted the cheesy hash brown version so I used what I had on hand. First, I peeled four small potatoes (they were organic russet so they are very small). After I got the skin off I just continued peeling to get something close to a hash brown. The I browned some ground turkey and added onion, water, milk, and butter to the cooked meat. I simmered it all until the potatoes were cooked. Then I turned the heat almost all the way up to brown the mixture. When I had browned both sides I added grated cheddar cheese, salt, and pepper. Like I said, they tasted great but the consistency was too mushy. Next time I will use less water/milk and I will sauté the onions with the meat. I may even buy the frozen organic hash browns to get that consistency right!

After dinner my husband and I played with Zoe and we are now watching the Spurs game. Go Spurs go!

Today I went more casual with my Spurs shirt. I knew I would be wrangling Zoe at Starbucks so I opted for flats. I got these sandals quite some time ago (like five years ago) so I was surprised to find them on Amazon.

Despite what my posts from the last few days say Zoe and I really love getting out and about. After Zoe's morning nap we went to our local Sprint store. I had to get a replacement charger because Pixie chewed up mine (and Nick's!). Then we went to get lunch at one of our favorite places- Black Walnut Cafe. I love the food there and the service is always superb. I got the pot roast grilled cheese sandwich with a side salad and Zoe had chicken fingers with steamed broccoli. 

Since we were there we decided to check out the new Sprouts. I didn't do a full blown grocery shopping trip so I can't say how low their prices are but I liked what I saw. It's a much smaller store than any other grocery store I have been to and it was a bit crowded (although it could have been crowded because it was Saturday and I NEVER go on the weekends or after 3 pm during the week). Their organic produce selection wasn't as good as I was expecting but they had green beans. I got some of our basics like bananas, milk, orange juice, and eggs and the prices seemed reasonable. The best part was the beauty section. They had a huge selection of beauty products as well as my favorite- Pacifica! They had almost all of the lanes open and a cashier and bagger at each. All in all I liked it. I will be going back during the week so I will update with prices then!

I had to get a Sprouts reusable bag! I also got some facial spray, a Pacifica solid perfume (Tuscan Blood Orange), and Newman's Own wintergreen mints.

I don't know what's up with the belt on my dress. It must have gotten loose during the day. Anyways, this dress is really comfortable and perfect for running around on hot days. I own quite a few striped dresses but they are so darn cute and simple to wear. I've included four similar options!

We had a fun day today! My mom went out to pick up breakfast since we didn't have anything at home. After that we all played and Zoe took her morning nap. We went to a birthday party at our neighbor's house this afternoon. They had a princess bouncy castle and a smaller one that Zoe sat in. Zoe had so much fun walking around and playing with all other kids. She took a great second nap (and we did as well)! Then Nick picked up Pei Wei for dinner because my Mother's Day has already started. :)

So I wore the camo pants again! This is real life people, I wear items of clothing over and over again. I paired it with a flowy top and wedges to dress the pants up a bit.

OOTD: Saturday + Starbucks + Girl's Night In

Today Zoe and I met some friends at Starbucks. We were also supposed to swing by Babies R Us but the weather went CRAZY! I really didn't even think it would rain but it poured. So we headed home to get out of the bad weather. Nick went to a motorcycle show with some co-workers so Zoe and I got to spend the evening together. We ate dinner, took a bath, watched Monsters Inc., then I put Zoe to bed and gave myself a mani/pedi. It was fun to just relax and do girly things!

I did not add a "similar" product for the jeans because 1) they were difficult to find a good match online and 2) high waisted flares are a very hard to pull off look. I think for this particular pair you have to have more of a straight figure (because the fit will give off the appearance of an hourglass shape) and long legs. If you are on the petite side you run the risk of making your legs appear shorter than they already are. So for you curvy or petite gals go with a skinny boot cut or straight leg jean. :)

I have been feeling under the weather so this blog post is a bit late. This Saturday Nick did a lot of yard work. Zoe and I were on hand to supervise. :)

So, this was our Saturday. I have more pictures of the yard after all of my husband's hard work but that will have to be in a later blog post. I am feeling much better but this NyQuil makes me very sleepy so I am headed to bed.
