How We Stayed Warm

Lately we have been having some intense weather. The trees were totally iced this morning! Other than blasting the heater we have been staying warm by keeping active (indoors of course). Unfortunately, my camera battery died so I had to use my phone at Kindermusik. But that is how we stayed warm. I had rolled my sleeves up by the end of class!

Gel Polish + Zoe Pics

I posted a blog post about a diy gel manicure three weeks ago. No, I have not had my gel manicure on that entire time. It actually chipped twice before I had it on for a week. I still included it on my June 2013 favorites list because the chips were easy to fix. Here are some of my thoughts and who this will work best for. 1) My nails grow very, very fast. I'm talking I have to file and trim them at least three times a week. Not only do my nails grow fast, they can get long. And when my nails are long they are more prone to breaking and chips. I have to keep them short because of all the things I do around the house and things I do with Zoe. This does not make me a good candidate for gel manicures. Because my nail bed begins to show and if I do cut or trim my nails I am getting rid of the gel on my nail tip. 2) If your nails are sensitive you may not be a good candidate. Again, my nails are super strong (even after over four years of acrylics). So in a weird way this stuff makes my nails feel even stronger. I have not actually had the pleasure of removing this polish with remover. I could literally peel it off! I have heard taking it off with nail polish remover can be a pain and your nails need to be soaked. 3) If you have very short nails that do not grow- get this stuff! Also, it helps if you don't mind wearing the same color for more than a week (I do mind). Like I said, even though I had large chips this polish makes my manicure last longer than a regular topcoat (Seche Vite, Out the Door, etc). Gelous can be found at Sally Beauty Supply. I think you will be pleasantly surprised! "But you don't have to take my word for it."

Tuesday with Zoe

Today Zoe woke up at her regular time (yay!) so she was back on schedule today. We ate breakfast together then I worked on blog posts I should have put up yesterday. After we had lunch (the last of my mom's King Ranch Chicken) we headed to Sprout's for our groceries this week. I intended to go yesterday after Target but Zoe was already getting sleepy in the car and we just went home. I also really wanted to get organic gummy vitamins and organic hot dogs for Thursday. The last time I went to Sprout's it was pretty busy so I didn't get to check everything out. This time it was practically dead. I was able to find organic sandwich bread, hot dog buns, cheese, green beans, popcorn kernels, ground turkey, hot dogs, and the gummy vitamins! Those things listed above are the hardest things to find at conventional grocery stores and I usually end up going to more than one to get it all. I also found the Newman's Own Organics cinnamon mints that I mentioned in my June 2013 Favorites post.

When Nick came home we all had dinner and hung out. Zoe's new favorite thing is climbing onto the couch next to me and then playing with the blinds. She usually grabs on me or my clothes but tonight she was doing it all on her own. She played hard all night, climbing and talking until she sat with Nick and watched an episode of Bubble Guppies. All in all we had a great day!

Stripes on Monday

After a nice, relaxing weekend Zoe and I were ready to get back to business today. Of course, we went to the grocery store. Sometimes I feel like I am there far too often but then I remember I cook every, single meal at home and it doesn't seem so bad. I must have gone at the wrong time because the checkout lanes were very crowded.

Since I took a break last night and ordered pizza I made salmon for dinner tonight. I also made fried green beans because, well I love those things. Also, I am typing my very first blog post from my new keyboard! Nick gave me my anniversary present early and he told me to use it! I felt bad because I didn't think we were giving each other presents this year but he told me his gift to himself was the Robert Plant concert. But I do have a card and special blog post for him. :)

Zoe kept putting the tiles from her alphabet mat on her head. She kept peeking through the number eight!

This dress is a fab find from Old Navy. I feel like their dresses are really a hit or miss. I have had this dress for quite some time but I just decided to wear it today. Great choice for running errands because it is light and not to short to chase after Zoe.

I will have to make this blog post shorter than usual. After being out of town for a week I have spent today cleaning, doing laundry, running errands, and taking care of a sick husband and a sick baby. They both seem to be feeling better now. My husband had some sort of freak allergy attack last night and my baby had a fever and a runny nose. I will be adding pictures from our trip as soon as my husband decides to upload them to the computer! We had a great time in Iowa though. A huge thank you to Grandma Strawn for hosting us at her house!

Baby's first chocolate milk! I only felt alright giving it to her because it was organic. Not happening again though and it only happened because we didn't have any in the fridge and got home a half day later than expected.

This top is much more neon in person. And I may have to get the hat I suggested above because Zoe ran over mine with the bicycle trailer and Pixie was chewing on it. Also, I love this hot weather. It means I can let my hair air dry!

OOTD: Wednesday

Zoe woke up at her normal time today- yay! We took our time getting ready though. After her morning nap I fed her lunch and we went to Kroger. The long weekend has my schedule all mixed up because I thought it was Tuesday (aka free upgrade day at Starbucks) but the barista kindly informed me it was Wednesday. After I told her to scan my Target card. In my defense I woke up with a headache that I just couldn't shake and I eventually gave in and took an Advil. Oh well! I think it may be the changes in the weather. The joys of growing old. So I did not accomplish as much as I would have liked today. While Zoe took her second nap I relaxed a little, did laundry, and got dinner started. Nick and I read and played with Zoe until he put her down for the night. She was our entertainment for the evening, just zooming around and chattering away! Oh and my husband's photograph was on KPRC this morning! 

No idea what this move is but she was doing it all evening. She would stand on her tippy toes, bend her knees, hold onto the edge of the coffee table and arch her back. She even attempted it without the coffee table a few times.

These next pictures are after my husband decided to put my hat on Zoe. She loved it so much that I went to get her hat and then we matched. :)
