Baby It's Cold Outside

In case you couldn't tell by the title a cold front has come in (as well as preparations for Thanksgiving and Christmas). I kept Zoe home on Thursday even though she no longer had a fever. She was still sneezing a bit but nothing to be worried about. We received our holiday dresses as well as an early gift from Santa.

On Friday morning after the cold front rolled in I woke up with a sore throat (boo!). I'm not sure if I caught whatever Zoe had or it's just from the change in weather. Normally, I let it run it's course but we are going out of town for Thanksgiving and I don't have time to be sick. So I took a Zicam as soon as I had food in my stomach and downed hot tea with honey and lemon. I had soup the rest of the day (along with tons of snacks) and stuck to my Zicam schedule. So Zoe and I were stuck inside for another day. I wouldn't have gone out anyways because it was freezing AND raining. 

Today my throat felt a little better and I am still taking Zicam. I even felt good enough to pick up lunch from Zoë's Kitchen. Nick was kind enough to take my grocery list to the store- we will see how well he stuck to it.

In other news, little princess must be going through a growth spurt because she has been taking her afternoon nap. She has great timing so I have been taking a nap in the afternoon as well. Here are some pics of us staying cozy and warm inside and of Zoe's gift from Santa.

Lunch with Zoe at Zoë's

Today Zoe and I ran a couple errands. After her morning nap we had lunch at Zoë's Kitchen. I had a goodie for a free entree that expired today so I wanted to use that. Zoe was loving it there because there was a big table of "big kids" and she would scream every time one of them walked by. She was also dancing to the music. Next time we are in there I will have to ask what radio station they play so we can listen to that in the car and at home. After lunch we did some window shopping at La Centerra but we didn't stay long because it was so hot. I had to get a few things at Sprout's so we stopped by there on the way home. Nick had to work late again but we both played with Zoe before she went to bed.

Fun Friday

Today was a great, relaxing day at home. Zoe and I had breakfast together while Nick slept in. Zoe took an extra long morning nap and after Nick woke up he went to pick up lunch from Zoë's Kitchen. We all had lunch together and then our good friend Lauren and her baby Walker came to visit. We got out a few of Zoe's things that she used when she was younger for Walker to use. He was rolling over on the play mat and he picked up cruising in the walker pretty quickly. When Zoe realized she could push Walker around she started doing that and they both had a great time. We had fun just talking and catching up with Lauren. And we were so happy to finally meet Walker. Zoe was obviously worn out because she took another long afternoon nap. Nick went to stargaze with his telescope so Zoe and I had a night in. She was practicing climbing on the couch and getting back down.

Busy Thursday

Today Zoe and I were busy! We started our day early by going to story time at the library. Of course, I was running late and it was packed. But we got to sit right next to Miss Judy so Zoe enjoyed that. She spent most of her time walking around picking up random toys. She lightly bumped into a little boy at one point. They gave each other a funny look that made me and the other dad laugh. While Zoe took her morning nap I tackled a ton of laundry. I washed three loads of clothes today and I don't even know how many things I folded or hung up.

We didn't have any leftovers from last night so I decided we should have lunch at Zoë's Kitchen. I also had a coupon so we got a little discount. I was really surprised to see that it wasn't busy at all and there were plenty of tables to choose from. After lunch we stopped by Target to get a few things for this weekend. I ended up getting more than I needed though. Isn't that always how it goes at Target? Our cashier even commented that we are there all the time. I went to her line because she is one of the ladies who is always nice to Zoe.

I  took a break from laundry when we got back home and played with Zoe. But I was back at it while she took her afternoon nap. I was still putting things away by the time Nick got home. I finally finished after Zoe went to bed!

So I'm not actually wearing any sandals here. It was the end of the day and I just didn't feel like putting them on for a picture. I have worn them many times before so everyone knows what they look like.

Father's Day Weekend

Here are a few pics from our Father's Day weekend. Of course I got sick after Nick and Zoe did so that explains my absence. I was glad to have done laundry and grocery shopping before I got sick though. Zoe and I spent the rest of the week at home. My mom came into town Friday afternoon. Since Nick was still at work she cleaned my floors AND my bathroom! I was so grateful because I hadn't been able to do it before we had left for Iowa. She also cleaned my stovetop and helped me do a load of dishes. Nick was kind enough to pick up dinner from Zoë's Kitchen so I didn't have to cook or clean up. 

The next morning I was feeling much better. I made some breakfast for Zoe, mom, and myself and we played until Zoe took her morning nap. My mom and I went to get a (much needed) manicure and pedicure at a new nail salon while Nick watched Zoe. It was a fairly new place and they sent a coupon in the mail so we tried it out. It was really nice! They only had pedicure chairs so even if you got a manicure you got to sit in the comfy chairs. I can't remember the name of the place but its in the  same shopping center as Whole Foods. I highly recommend the jelly pedicure! After our mani/pedi we decided to walk to Stein Mart. They were having a great sale so my mom picked up some things. Then we stopped by Wole Foods to pick up a quick bite to eat. My mom got a salad and I got a beef quesadilla with corn and spinach on the side. Nick had a coupon for Pei Wei so he picked that up for dinner.

On Sunday I was feeling 100% better (not all the way but a huge improvement). My mom fed Zoe breakfast while I picked up frappuccinos and breakfast sandwiches at Starbucks. We played with Zoe until her morning nap and then my mom left for San Antonio. I let Nick sleep in and when he woke up I made him his breakfast (bacon, eggs over hard, and mimosas). He had to run an errand while Zoe and I took a nap. After we both woke up I made a special dinner. Filets (which I had never made and had no clue how to), baked potatoes, and salad. Nick said it was really good! We ended the night by watching the Spurs beat the Heat. Only one more game to win the championship!

So that was our weekend. We had a lot of fun just hanging around the house and eating lots of good food.
